Review of The Darjeeling Limited (2007) by John A — 12 Apr 2011
Darjeeling taken on its own, decontextualized from Anderson's career, would probably be more enjoyable than it is. However, this mostly feels like ground Anderson has covered before, transplanting the same story and characters to the Asian subcontinent.
Much can be said for similarity between films (see Ozu), but this just feels repetitive. That said, the film is quite watchable. I like that Anderson branched out after this film with Mr. Fox, and I hope that he continues that trajectory.
