Review of The Darjeeling Limited (2007) by Russell W — 10 May 2013
A ticket to board the Darjeeling Limited gains the viewer access to a rollicking allegorical journey of three brothers, all manner of emotional baggage in hand (monogrammed Louis Vuitton, no less), teeter-tottering to find equilibrium between dysfunction and harmony.
The film's briefer subplots are compartmentalised into individual vignettes much like the eponymous locomotive's separate sleeper carriages. Mirth and angst amongst the sibling trio blend into the colour and chaos of the Indian landscape along the trip, eventually bestowing resolution and self-fulfilment at journey's end.
An uplifting movie.
