Review of The Danish Girl (2015) by Amanda S — 14 Dec 2015
Once again, Tom Hooper takes on a project about subject matter I care about and ruins it. The Danish Girl is beautiful, a true contender for Every Frame A Painting, which makes sense because Gerda and Einar are artists.
However, even the loveliest-looking film can drag, and drag it does. Vikander's talent is wasted in a poorly-written character and Redmayne, while utterly convincing, is nonetheless more unsympathetic than I would like in a story like this.
