The Danish Girl is only elevated by Alicia Vikander's phenomenal performance, patently earning her a well deserved Academy Award. The film is neither insightful nor enjoyable, if anything it can be quite disturbing and difficult to watch which ultimately leads to the explicit fact that this drama is filmed, designed, and scored for the sole purpose of winning Oscars.
