Review of The Danish Girl (2015) by Markus M — 06 Feb 2016
Never treating its very serious subject matter as a joke or a spectacle, there's a real sense of fragility and sensitivity to the film, the highlights of it being the excellent performances and the wonderful score. The only real problems I have with it are one scene towards the end that detracts ever so slightly from what I perceive to be the positive core message of the film, and more importantly that the film's been promoted as a true story when in fact a good amount of its story is pure fiction. Making a work of fiction loosely based on true events is perfectly fine - just don't sell it as something that it's not.
8,5/10.
