Review of The Da Vinci Code (2006) by Andre Z — 02 Aug 2011
This movie's problem is that it (or the book, depending on how close that book is being followed) does not understand the difference between "complicated" and "stupid", between an investigation and goofing around. The film follows the childish way of creating its own logic in order to make the story work and move forward. The kind of clues that are left behind for the main characters to find are needless, overcomplicated, impractical, and the core for the story itself is...well, I think suffice it to say that you have a few good actors participating in a bit of a treasure hunt and you are not supposed to think about it too deeply - just like with all religoius matters I suppose.
Knew the ending in the first 10 minutes of the movie (never having read the book) Makes it kind of boring.
