Review of The Da Vinci Code (2006) by Xsaris G — 30 Jun 2013
I thoroughly enjoyed the ride, as I typically am a sucker for a good ol' treasure hunt. The story was powerful an delved into some heavily debated topics. My only beefs with the film were the spotty acting performances, and the rushed ending (I guess it needed to be rushed as the film was already bordering on three hours in length).
Tom Hanks does not give a very memorable performance, nor does female lead Audrey Tautou. However, the two had a believable chemistry and complimented one another nicely. The man who stole the show was Ian McKellen playing a former colleague of Hanks (Lord of The Rings), along with Paul Bettany who played "Silas," one of the creepiest and most disturbed characters I have ever seen in a film.
The movie does have some plot holes, but once you manage to get around them, it is a very enjoyable adventure which teaches us the lesson that god is mortal, and man is divine.
