Review of The Da Vinci Code (2006) by Elliott P — 07 Feb 2012
No surpirses here. As good an interpretation as you could get. For those who haven't read the book, it would have been surprising and great. I think the cross country differences didn't help the film either.
An english novel set on french history, made by americans. You can only expect a little irregularities. Hanks didn't suit Langdon at all, but I suppose there is really no other well known american actor who would suit the role either.
Paul Bettany, Alfred Molina and Ian McKellen all suit their charcters to the tee. However Da Vinc Code is a film(and the book) based on dialogue and the discussion of concepts, rather than emotion or anything physical, and therefore will never rise to anything superb in my books.
