Review of The Da Vinci Code (2006) by Gustavmarkovic31 . — 11 Sep 2012
Disapponting, im afraid. tom hanks doesnt really hit the mark, and some of his acting was not up to his usual standards, im afraid. both hanks and audrey tautou can't really add much to there charcters, as they've been outlined already in the book, which was highly enjoyable.
sir ian mckellen is the most entertaining, providing the sinister plot information throughout the film, therefore making it work a little better. the soundtrack music is incredble, as good as the lemony snicket music, and provides the feel of the thrill scenes.
paul bettany was pretty good as the albino monk, considering he had to cope with 6 hours a day of make-up, just to portray his character, whichrestricted filming, as he had to wash it off before going to bed.
jean reno was okay, alfred molina, who played the bishop ( who has previously been in spiderman 2, as doc ock), but really, most of the film was just silliness, rushing through the first third of the book in a half hour or so, lessened the impact of jacques' mysterious death occurance.
but overall, it wasn't a bad movie, I think it is satisfying at the least, and should please. it did make over 223 million dollars in its first WEEKEND in the box-office, so obviously they have done something right.
