Review of The Curse of the Werewolf (1961) by Sofia S — 16 Feb 2010
I think this is my least favorite of all the Hammer re-imaginings of the Universal classic monsters, but although it is problematic, it isn't a bad movie. I really like how the story follows the werewolf curse from before Leon's birth, going through his childhood as a young wolfboy and culminating on the inevitable tragic end it builds up to.
The problem is that even though the werewolf attack scenes are pretty good, the rest of the movie seems a little bored by itself until the climax and personally, I thought the unfolding of the plot to be pretty uninteresting and the acting to be fairly mediocre - even from Reed.
