Review of The Curse of the Jade Scorpion (2001) by Lee M — 09 Nov 2007
For all of it's flaws, this somewhat forgettable effort from Woody Allen contains his usual snappy dialogue that is worlds ahead of anyone currently writing for the screen. The film is aslo notablefor Allen's command of the long take.
Granted, it's well-known that Allen adopoted this form years ago to shorten his shooting days, but as Orson Welles once said "What separates the men from the boys is being able to shoot a scene in a medium shot.
Any idiot can make a film with an 8 inch lens and a pair of scissors.".
