Review of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) by Bryan E — 27 Dec 2012
The film has brilliant storytelling, with perfect direction by David Fincher (like always). This is the first time you really begin to see the Kubrickian-style filmmaking from Fincher, crisp cinematography and beautifully symbolic imagery.
"Zodiac" was the director's seamless transition from perfect crime thrillers to more seriously dramatic films having much greater depth. If David Fincher wasn't considered a master filmmaker before this, he certainly is now one of cinema's best directors.
It's also an actor's picture, having spot-on acting from Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. This is the type of picture that's drastically different from any other of Fincher's films. It's a risk that I highly respect, and one that ultimately results in one of his best works.
