Review of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) by Shawn E — 20 May 2012
It was pretty decent but not nearly as amazing as I had been led to believe. Neither of the main characters were particularly interesting and the story unfolds in a very tedious manner, including random sidetracking to completely meaningless subplots and ideas that are never fully realized. The acting from Pitt and Blanchett is good, as always, but I didn't think either of them were that fantastic.
The special effects, though incredible at times, could also be a bit distracting as well. Overall, it's an overlong movie that plays out very much like Forrest Gump (not surprising, as it was the same screenwriter) but with less of the emotional punch and outstanding performances/story that that film had to offer.
