Moments of brilliance, but to me felt rambling and non-specific in the way that novel-movies usually are. I can understand that the common thematic of all the film's episodes is a little more ethereal and abstract as that of, say, Forrest Gump, but.

.. this abstract idea about the fleeting nature of life and accomplishment feels undercut by the tonal conflicts going on all over the film. There didn't seem to be any forward-moving tension or mystery, since we were privy to so much more than Benjamin.

.. There's synthetic tension, sure, in the Katrina framing device, but that doesn't feel all that loaded once the credits roll. I don't know, but the special effects are INCREDIBLE.
