Review of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) by Damjan R — 27 Dec 2012
It's about life, it's about love, it's about living life to the fullest, it's about embracing the different & the odd, it's about family, it's about wisdom, it's about playing, it's about youth, it's about old age, it's about you, it's about me and it's decidedly not a David Fincher film.
His signature aesthetics are largely missing but his somewhat interest is still here. Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett are simply amazing as lovers going in different directions with Pitt getting younger and Cate getting older, and the story is written with a certain warmth that amplifies the ordinary into sublime and beautiful.
In a film about moments it's exactly those moments that lift this otherwise tame film into something special. The scene with Daisy dancing in the moonlight is simply breathtaking. Watch with a cup of tea, and under a blanket.
