Review of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) by Zach E — 12 Jan 2013
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has plenty to like but equally enough to dislike as well. Director David Fincher really did an outstanding job directing, as he always does, with his authentic style and careful attention to detail. But the moral of the story was exceedingly far fetched, lacking an overwhelming conclusion that speaks lessons to the heart. The film indulges itself in a cumbersome story about the character's own immoral life that undermines the supposed moral lesson being taught.
Everything else about the film was well done, but the story was an irreconcilable mess.
