Review of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) by Darrell T — 21 Apr 2013
This is this generation's Forrest Gump. Director David Fincher and, ironically enough, Forrest Gump Screenwriter Eric Roth, take a concept with smarts, but they aren't smug or arrogant about it.
They are celebrating natural storytelling. It's amazing how a concept of getting younger as you get older can be so heartwarming. Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett are just as good as they were as a couple in Babel, the soundtrack by Alexandre Desplat is absolutely stunning, and I was so moved by the ending.
By far one of the best films of 2008, and one of this decade's understated treasures. What a lovely, lovely film.
