Solid, but it feels like a new movie built on the Forrest Gump engine-and it doesn't always gel. The present day subplot is exceedingly dull and feels out of place. The biggest problem is that David Fincher is just about the worst director choice for a story like this.
His movies work best when they explore the twisted side of humanity, not the sentimental.
