Review of The Crying Game (1992) by Simon B — 06 Oct 2009
I liked this movie, despite seeing all its ugliness (oh, on so many levels). Although I disagree with its very fatalistic philosophy on human nature vs human free-will, it's still a relatively smart film and very well executed.
I loved the film noir style and the characters' interactions. Looking back though, some arguments about human nature are pretty weak and the film makes uses of some tired cliches, particularly about men in the military and Irish patriotism.
