Review of The Crying Game (1992) by Natalie M — 30 Apr 2014
By now, "The Crying Game" has been minimally mocked and imitated because of its twist. But watching the film on its own, the twist is only the cherry on top of this intriguing, sad romantic thriller.
It's a rare film that's daring enough to stand out among the many thrillers that came before it and in its wake. The script is smartly written, Neil Jordan's direction is solid, and the performances of Stephen Rea, Miranda Richardson, and newcomer Jaye Davidson are stellar.
