Review of The Cruel Sea (1953) by Mark R — 21 Feb 2009
One of the best war films ever. A strong British cast led by Jack Hawkins puts across the real and often grim story of the Battle of the Atlantic in a personal way without glamour. Based on Nicholas Monsarrat's best seller (he himself served in corvettes).
Agree the facebook synopsis isn't quite correct, I think the reviewer has mistaken part of the plot with "The enemy below" starring Robert Mitchum?
