A lavish and terrifically acted adaptation of Miller's classic play. Winona Ryder delivers a career best performance as an intense Abigail. Daniel Day Lewis stuns again with his portrayal of John Proctor as the absolute picture of remorse.
Joan Allen trumps them all with her fragile Elizabeth. Also very much worth noting is a rare performance by Paul Scofield, one of the greatest screen actors of all time.
