I'd heard that this film version of the play was quite dull, but personally I thought it was really interesting. I found myself getting caught up in the emotions of the story and hated all of those people who were condemning the innocent.

I couldn't stand Winona Ryder in it, which perhaps shows she captured the right tone for her character. Paul Scofield was particularly menacing as the Judge. Daniel Day Lewis was excellent as ever, but the standout contributor to this film had to be Arthur Miller, who adapted his brilliant and timeless play into a very good screenplay.
