Review of The Crucible (1996) by Vivienne C — 12 Jun 2009
A solid re-interpretation of the play. It takes a few creative stretches with the plot, adds some stuff for dramatic effect, but overall, captures nicely what Arthur Miller wrote. Daniel Day Lewis is excellent, Joan Allen and him make a lovely pair.
Winona Ryder is a bitch; great work! :P My only issue was the sometimes overly emotional music. (See "It's my Name scene", when Proctor tears the confession, it's like "CUE OBNOXIOUS VIOLINS!").
