Review of The Crow: City of Angels (1996) by Ron — 23 Jun 2009
I know this will force a huff out of a lot of people but I actually liked this movie alot. Was the acting corney? Oh yes, and I must admit I expected more from Vincent Perez! I do admit you have to completely separate this from the first Crow movie in order to survive watching this flick.
Keep comparing it to its legendary original and you will just fluster yourself. I liked the story. It stuck out for itself among the other crow sequels because unlike the other crow movies this one didn't recycle the "me and my girlfriend died and I want to get even" storyline.
Seriously, why is it the same story in every crow film. It's getting old and boring. However, in this Crow film the story is taken up a notch when a father and his young son dies. That to me is more terrifying and upsetting.
This is what made it stand out. Not to mention I did enjoy seeing Thomas Jane and Thuy (the yellow ranger) pop up in this film. Could the movie have been done better? Absolutely! I still enjoyed it. I think it's a lot better than the crow movies that came after it.
