Review of The Crow (1994) by Joe S — 21 May 2012
I never really got on the bandwagon with this one. Sure, Alex Proyas' directing is stylish, the child actor is actually someone who adds to the movie rather than someone you have to turn a blind eye to, and it has its moments.
But still, this movie is razor-thin, even for a B-movie revenge thriller. For instance, the inciting action is an eviction notice delivered as a part of the villain's evil plan to....... leave the building exactly the way it was.
I know, I know, they're Anarchists, but even the best movie Anarchists like the Joker have more plans than this. These are the kind of things you don't give a crap about if the movie works for you, and it just didn't work for me.
