Review of The Crow (1994) by Peaches H — 13 Sep 2011
The rock musician Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) is brought back to life by a crow a year after he and his fiance Shelly Webster (Sofia Shinas) are murdered by a gang the day before Halloween. The crow guides him through the land of the living, and leads him to his killers to seek revenge. The leader T-Bird (David Patrick Kelly) and his henchmen Skank, Tin Tin and Funboy. Eric takes them out one by one, but soon enough he finds himself up against the citys crime lord Top Dollar (Michael Wincott) and his girlfriend Myca (Bai Ling). Eventually they find out about the legend of the crow and the secret to the vigilante's invincibility...
Been a long time since I saw "The Crow", gotta be the same year it came out in 1994. Ages ago... I liked it then and I like it now. Yes, I reckon the sets and parts of the visuals are a bit dated and not so good when seeing it now. You can see that they have shot street scenes in a classic built up city Hollywood style. But, somehow it kind of fits into the setting and the film. And the movie contained a great soundtrack with bands such as Stone Temple Pilots. "The Crow" makes you of course think of the tragic death of Brandon Lee...
