(1995) The Crossing Gaurd.
DRAMA.
Sean Penn, the actor who wrote and directed this film is not bad except that it's confusing as "heck" right at the beginning of this picture! Where the story requires alot of patience involving 3 people- a person in jail John Booth played by David Morse, a person who hangs around in strip joints, the father Freddy (Jack Nicholson) and sleeps around, and finally a mother Mary played by Angelica Huston in one of those 'grieving' discussions! In other words the film starts off very plotless much of the first 30 to 40 minutes where the movie just states people's daily lives without understanding why that is except that one person in jail may have affected 2 lives leaving questions asking why! You don't know or understnad this until 30 or 40 minutes into the film which means that the real story of this film starts right at the middle and then going sideways leading up to the final!
3 out of 4 stars.
