"The Croods" is disappointing. The animation is pretty good but the whole thrust of the theme is so cliche and simplistic, it really turned me off pretty quick. Nicholas Cage as Grug is portrayed as the conservative who has helped the family survive.
He is quickly pitted against Guy who is a free thinking liberal. Of course, Guy ends up saving the day now and Grug, by the end, has a wildly unbelievable change of heart. The climax of the film just doesn't work.
It's frustratingly disappointing.
