I really thought I would hate this. I only watched it because my daughter wanted to see it. It ended up being entertaining enough to get me through an hour and a half of babysitting though lol. I do like how modern cartoons try to teach children life lessons without being preachy too.
in this case it was all about living rather than surviving, instead of playing it safe, taking chances in order to be happy, have a better life. Basically it went over the same themes for KIDS that "The Walking Dead" explores every week for ADULTS (there was even a similar apocolyptic motivation).
pretty good stuff overall. was a bonus for me that nicolas cage was one of the main voices too.
