Review of The Crimson Rivers (2000) by Doctor S — 05 Jul 2010
Detective procedural most of the way and a rather mysterious one with stylistic reflections of the grisly serial killings seen in 'Silence of the Lambs' and 'Se7en' but fails to develop its many implied backstories and leaves too many unanswered questions.
There is an unintentionally funny shift in tone from the methodical forensic investigation in one scene when young cop Cassel abruptly goes kung fu crazy on a gang of skinheads! Might rate a little higher if I had seen the French language version as the dubbing was inadequate.
Could've & should've been better but still an acceptable evening's worth.
