Review of The Crime of Padre Amaro (2002) by Claudio P — 30 May 2009
The first half of the movie deals primarily with corruption amongst the priests and church members in general-- we see that much is going on behind the scenes. The second half primarily deals with the scandalous relationship and the adverse consequences of it.
The story takes a tragic turn for the worst. Though the turn of events and sadistic mixture of sin and sanctity could be difficult to swallow, overall an intriguing story, and shows you that ultimately sin does not pay, as we see portrayed in the lives of numerous characters in this film.
Kudos to Gael GarcÃa Bernal on this film-- I liked him much better than in this than in "Y Tu Mama Tambien.".
