Review of The Crazies (1973) by Chris T — 04 Mar 2010
Ok not Romero's best, but could of been a lot more if it had a bigger budget for back in the day. Plus the big down point for me was it was just to 'talky'. Felt myself drifting away from the flick at times.
The story itself is a good one and there are some great scenes of madness especially the happy old lady knitting away who then suddenly stands up and kills a soldier with the needle. Quite a few comic moments aswell, whether these were intentional, I dont know.
Probably down to at times by some drastically apalling acting. Richard France from Romero's Dawn of the Dead was the best performer of the film that didnt deliver a big enough punch like his massively successful 'zombie' series.
