Review of The Crazies (1973) by Mike D — 06 Jul 2010
The Crazies is a viable reality tragedy by the zombie master George Romero. A mysterious virus is let loose on a small town and the military is called in to "save" everyone.
I just learned that they are remaking this movie. The original was alright. They did the best they could with 70's actors and filming styles. It wasn't a bad movie. It just lacked a little something. The remake should be great. It comes out next year.
This movie brings up a very legitimate fear of most Americans. When is the next time that the US will decide to test a biological weapon on its citizenry? Hmmm. Are you worried?
On a side topic, this movie was most likely the inspiration for George Lucas' Storm Troopers. The military guys in the HazMat suits sound and act just like the Storm Troopers that will appear in theatres five years later.
