Some have labeled this as a horror movie, but I guess it's only in that category due to the magic aspect, because there really wasn't anything suspenseful about it. The few times they tried to establish a scary moment were so blatantly obvious.
The acting was decent at times and fell flat at others. It's clear the actors were chosen more for their looks than their acting ability. The whole movie actually reminds me of some kind of show from the WB.
And because of this, I'd say The Covenant is really going to appeal to a select crowd, mainly young girls and gay men. Haha, I certainly didn't mind it, especially when you find out the guys are on the swim team at their school and you get to see them all in speedos.
As far as the plot, it was kinda predictable, probably because they gave away practically the whole thing in the commericals. Anyway, unless you like movies like The Craft or shows like Charmed, you probably won't like this one.
