Review of The Country Girl (1954) by Timothy C — 24 Sep 2007
A solid film though not an original premise. Fine performances from all involved, and tackling interesting characters and situations this is an enjoyable film, though not the best I have seen on the topic of alcohol abuse.
I also thought that Judy Garland's performance in A Star is Born was more worthy of an Oscar than Grace Kelly in this film, though she also delivers a fine performance. William Holden was divine in this film also, one of my favorite of his roles.
