Review of The Countess (2009) by Anne S — 03 Sep 2013
Visually stunning, but lacking much in terms of acting. With the exception of a scant few, dialogue is delivered by actors in a stiff, unimmersive manner that resembles amateurs reading from placards. Even Julie Delpy's lines come across as though reciting from script without lackluster.
Little to no chemistry between actors. Beautiful costumes and settings do nothing to take away from the painfully halting performance.
