Review of The Counterfeiters (2007) by Tracey D — 03 Jan 2009
Excellent movie documenting something more than the sheer brutality of the nazi concentration camps - although that underlying sense and knowledge is reflected throughout the whole film and particularly highlighted at the end - the fact that the nazis had plans to economically decimate their enemies by counterfeiting the pound and dollar.
the story is also interesting in that it provides an insight into the social structures that existed within concentration camps too - real criminals mixed in with ordinary citizens, and how they perhaps behaved and reacted differently because of that.
an excellent movie.
