Review of The Counselor (2013) by Miriam Q — 24 May 2014
One hell of a twisted masterpiece from director Ridley scott. The performances makes the film just as good and entertaining. Michael fassbender is very good as The counselor who decides to get in on a drug deal with the mexican cartel along with his friend played by Javier bardem and a terrific brad pitt as local small time drug dealer who warns his friend the counselor to think wisely before getting in on the drug deal cause if things go wrong well he will be killed. Cameron diaz delivers a great performance as a femme fatale with devious plans for the drug deal and moves the film foward.
I love everything about this movie. I love the slow moments with philosophical conversations to the drug deal that goes wrong and seeing what happens to Michael fassbender and company. The film is realistic and well made. Brad pitt and cameron diaz are the standouts with good support from Michael fassbender and ruben blades. Penelope cruz is very beautiful but her character is wasted at the end.
A must see.
