On one hand, "Savages" is the spiritual brother of this film; both films are about what happens when you mess with the cartel. I actually don't think I would've liked this film as much if I hadn't seen "Savages".
This film has a pace and you do not realize how bad things have really gotten for the characters until they pay for it. On one hand, I see why people didn't respond to it, but on the other, I think it told a pretty cool crime story. A curiosity worth watching to see how to tell a crime film from a completely different approach.
