From the opening wordy, pretentious scenes, you realize you're in a badly written, slow-paced, badly acted (Javier Bardem) loser of a movie. Cormac McCarthy does NOT know how to write a movie (show not tell).
I presume it gets wildly violent at some point, but didn't stick around to find out. Penelope Cruz looks great, though.
