Review of The Counselor (2013) by Cameron F — 28 Jun 2014
Casting was great but the script had no substance and seemed incomplete, as if I walked into a sequel without knowledge of the original story and your constantly asking yourself wtf is the back story to what we're viewing and breaking news = women like oral sex as a starter to the movie - Huh?
Instead of weaving a story line we have to guess and make our own. Come on a shipment gets hijacked and the cartel assumes it's their distribution channels fault so they just destroy the money makers? Opposite of what mafia does - they want money makers and yet everyone is a philosopher but lacks the common sense wisdom to check before annihilating your drug distribution channel? Utter Nonsense! Zero proof yet they extinguish everyone partnered yet every scene there's a philosopher talking wisdom of the ages yet they're all serial killers. These are the Dumb and Dumber of Drug dealers that had no bug out plan in case of these scenario's. The writer is an idiot or Ridley was high and forgot to film Part one and jumped straight into a sequel leaving the audience confused as hell. Never an explanation why out of the blue they are all being killed, after all cartels know upfront they are playing a cat/mouse game and understand nit everything will get through but they don't jump to a conclusion their own partners ripped them off when hijackings occur in organized crime where 20 Mil is involved. Just disappointing but a beautiful cast and the story weave failed!
The California orgasm was about the only sequence that seemed cumplete. ;).
