Review of The Counselor (2013)

By Cynthia Fuchs (1,328) for PopMatters (2,617) on 17 Dec 2013

Review of The Counselor (2013)

By Wesley Morris (1,967) for Grantland (318) on 10 Dec 2013

It's filthy, nasty, sexy, absurd, appalling, and exhilarating, and it succeeds as a musky union of novelist Cormac McCarthy's bleakness and…

Review of The Counselor (2013)

By Robbie Collin (1,612) for The Telegraph (1,120) on 20 Nov 2013

It feels like a film that is attracted by the shape of love and pain, but is a long way from understanding the content…

Review of The Counselor (2013)

By David Katz (41) for Electric Sheep (203) on 18 Nov 2013

By Jason Best (961) for Movie Talk (957) on 17 Nov 2013

With Ridley Scott at the helm and the starriest of A-list casts, The Counsellor may come with lashings of Hollywood gloss, but don't bargain…

By Ali Gray (310) for Film4 (1,522) on 15 Nov 2013

Frustratingly directionless and unconcerned with detail, but fans of the writer will feel right at home wallowing through fresh reams of his…

Review of The Counselor (2013)

By Maryann Johanson (2,701) for Flick Filosopher (2,694) on 15 Nov 2013

Almost, but not quite, hilariously demented - if accidentally so - drama about sex and death, and why not to get involved with drug cartels…

Review of The Counselor (2013)

By Brian Viner (589) for Daily Mail (UK) (1,461) on 14 Nov 2013

The result is so much ponderous dialogue that, peaceable chap though I am, I found myself longing for another merciless act of vengeance…

Review of The Counselor (2013)

By Matt Prigge (853) for Metro (930) on 14 Nov 2013

It aims for the watchability of 'The Big Sleep,' a film so tangled even its author, Raymond Chandler, couldn't explain certain plot mysteries…

Review of The Counselor (2013)

By Ryan Gilbey (367) for New Statesman (382) on 14 Nov 2013

It's regrettable enough that the film opens with coy pillow talk between the main protagonist and his lover…

Review of The Counselor (2013)

By Adam Lee Davies (66) for Little White Lies (3,136) on 14 Nov 2013

An inert, dispiriting, detached, disjointed, counterfeit and clumsy film…

Review of The Counselor (2013)

By Matthew Turner (2,508) for ViewLondon (2,339) on 14 Nov 2013

Disappointing thriller that's let down by an overly-written script that's so in love with its own dialogue that it neglects to provide a coherent…

By Elliott Noble (448) for Sky Cinema (1,726) on 14 Nov 2013

As you'd expect from Scott, the action is efficient, clinical and nasty…

Review of The Counselor (2013)

By Andy Lea (545) for Daily Star (403) on 14 Nov 2013

This is one review where you don't need to worry about spoilers. I couldn't tell you how it all pans out even if I wanted to…

Review of The Counselor (2013)

By Rich Cline (3,056) for Contactmusic.com (927) on 14 Nov 2013

Review of The Counselor (2013)

By Linda Cook (1,442) for Quad City Times (Davenport, IA) (1,206) on 13 Nov 2013

What a letdown. 'The Counselor' is a rambling mess with a talented cast that's far superlative to its tedious screenplay…

Review of The Counselor (2013)

By Emma Dibdin (195) for Digital Spy (1,161) on 12 Nov 2013

As viscerally promising as the McCarthy-Scott combination initially seemed, the result is nourishing on a purely intellectual level; it works…
