Review of The Cotton Club (1984) by Private U — 06 Jan 2008
I have mixed feelings about this movie. The photography and the cinematography are gorgeous: Coppola recreated the 1920s with accuracy (I saw some exhibits about Art Deco and I can tell you the settings were perfect).
On the other hand, the plot was sort of twisted (in short, too may subplots) and I sort of lost track at some point. I had a good time watching it but the movie obviously does not have the depth of Apocalyse Now.
