Review of The Cotton Club (1984) by Gerardo R — 02 Jan 2013
The Cotton Club was the Coppola flick I always wanted to see and I have to say that I really wasn't into it but didn't turn it off or anything. It's overdrawn, overlong, has more going on stylistically with sets and costumes than anything else.
Gere sucks as the lead but everyone else is pretty good. I liked the Gregory Hines storyline more than the main one with Gere. It takes forever for any action to happen and by the time the end credits roll I thought it was just a little more than ok.
