Review of The Corporation (2003) by Doug M — 06 Feb 2011
I saw this years ago, and it came across as a case of filmmaking by committee. It's a liberal indictment of the corporate model and how it functions in our system, and it makes its points quite effectively in the first hour.
But then, it spends another hour and a half (!) beating those same points to death without telling us anything new. Paula is significantly more liberal than I, and yet two thirds of the way through this beast she lost interest and went to clean the cat boxes.
At the very end, Michael Moore et. al called the viewers to action, but by my count they'd already left. If liberals are ever going to connect with the masses they claim to represent, they need to drop the pedagogy and find a way to sell their message effectively to real people, most of whom have short attention spans.
This isn't it. One star.
