Review of The Corporation (2003) by Dan G — 01 Sep 2011
"A 150 years ago, the business corporation was a relatively insignificant institution. Today, it is all-pervasive. Like the Church, the Monarchy and the Communist Party in other times and places, the corporation is today's dominant institution. This documentary examines the nature, evolution, impacts, and possible futures of the modern business corporation. Initially given a narrow legal mandate, what has allowed today's corporation to achieve such extraordinary power and influence over our lives? We begin our inquiry as scandals threaten to trigger a wide debate about the lack of public control over big corporations".
If corporations were people, what kind of people would they be? This brilliant documentary asks this question. The answer is they'd be psychopaths. The corporation is a startling and eye opening study into the history, politics, and mentality of the modern day corporation. It is powerful and compelling and will leave you angry and determined to make a change. The narration is first class along with the interviews with CEO's, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Michael Moore, whistleblowers, and several other key figures. I can't recommend this enough. It's a long one at 2 hours and 45 minutes, but totally worth your time, and in fact I'd venture to say that it's worth watching multiple times. Watch this amazing film. If for anything watch it for your health. 10/10 from me.
