Review of The Core (2003) by Goh K — 20 Apr 2009
Interesting film. Most films are about outer space which is a vacuum but not inner space which is a mass of matter. Very much like one of my favourite French authors, Jules Verne's Journey to the Centre of the Earth.
The end of the world is imminent as the earth's outer core has stopped rotating causing electromagnetic fields to dissipate allowing for the solar storm, lightning & microwaves to penetrate the earth's EMT field.
Using a tungsten-titanium alloy which can take the heat & pressure of magma & using ultrasonic lasers to blast through the earth's crust, mantle & outer core, a group of scientists travel to the outer core to set off a series of plutonium nuclear chain reactions to get the outer core to rotate again.
Not believable travelling to the earth's core with the pressure & 7000-degree heat so easily but something to stimulate the mind about the reality of the apocalypse. Interesting science-fiction / fact.
