Review of The Core (2003) by John M — 30 Jan 2010
Heard this one? A lowly scientist discovers that the world is going to end. He isn't taken seriously till a few spectacular CGI disasters kill lots of people within sight of famous landmarks across the world.
Then the boffins discover that the end of the world can be averted through an elaborate plan that ends in blowing shit up. Yeah, the plot is oh so familiar, but some snappy dialogue and credible performances from a cast that doesn't take it too seriously keep it entertaining.
Don't even try to figure out the science, it's only there to set up each character's hero moment. Warm up the popcorn and switch off your brain.
