Review of The Core (2003) by Liam C — 24 Jun 2012
The Core is another in the long line of the 'save the world' disaster movies and plot wise, it has to be the most utterly ridiculous. The performances are passable, but will not grab you at all.
About the best thing this film has going for it is the brisk pacing. Things happen fast in the film, almost too fast at times but it keeps you from focusing too much on the absurdity of the going-ons.
The effects are probably what will interest most people, and while I'm sure they were good for the time, I can't say they've held up too well. This isn't a movie for people who like to be challenged by what they're watching.
However, if you can shut your mind off and just find entertainment in the flashing lights and pretty colors, then this isn't a horrible way to spend a couple hours. There sure as hell are worse ways.
